BUIUNAS NETWORK
Buiúna é uma figura mitológica, guardiã dos rios amazônicos, que se manifesta como mulher e cobra grande. Ao ser uma, ela também é a outra. Nessa rede, nós, mulheres, nos juntamos à entidade Buiúna, em sua dupla existência, para tecer nossa ação política, que é uma coisa e outra. Nossa estratégia de resistência é reativar o feitiço.
Ser e ser, eis a nossa questão.
Somos artistas E jornalistas E antropólogas E promotoras públicas E professoras universitárias E ambientalistas E psiquiatra E enfermeira E Juruna E Xipaya E Kumaruara E ribeirinhas - mulheres aliadas à defesa dos rios amazônicos. Nossa identidade individual, coletiva ou ancestral não se define, nem se resume, por nossa biologia, trabalho, atividade ou etnia - nos refazemos na alteridade.
Pode-se pensar que o encantamento da mulher amazônica tem algo a ver com o silêncio e a escuta do fluxo da natureza, mas não só – encantar é desafiar as regras, subverter a ordem, fazer o que se acredita e ainda não ser feito. É entender que a fronteira entre o imaginado e o real depende apenas de onde traçamos a linha.
Nossa linha segue a gravura de rios e florestas, cuja preservação é fundamental no combate à catástrofe climática, já irrevogavelmente imposta. No rio Xingu, como em outros territórios, as mulheres têm sido a principal resistência aos megaprojetos de infraestrutura e mineração, bem como protagonistas na luta pela autonomia de seus corpos, povos e territórios.
A rede visa a troca horizontal entre mulheres de diferentes saberes que têm um objetivo comum: proteger a saúde e a vida dos rios amazônicos.
Buiúna is a mythological figure, guardian of Amazonian rivers, who manifests itself as half a woman and half a big snake. In being one, she is also the other. In this network, we, as women, join the Buiúna entity, in its dual existence, to weave our political action, which is one thing and another. Our resistance strategy is to reactivate the spell.
To be or to be, that is our question.
We are artists AND journalists AND anthropologists AND public prosecutors AND university professors AND environmental activists AND psychiatrist AND Juruna AND Xipaya AND Kumaruara AND riverine - women allied with the defense of amazonian rivers. Our individual, collective or ancestral identity is not defined, nor summarized, by our biology, work, activity or ethnicity - we remake ourselves in the otherness.
One might think that the enchantment of the Amazonian woman has something to do with silence and the listening to nature's flow, but not only - enchantment is to defy the rules, subvert the order, do what is believed and not yet being done. It is to understand that the boundary between the imagined and the real depends only on where we draw the line.
Our line follows the engraving of rivers and forests, whose preservation is fundamental in combating the climatic catastrophe, which is already irrevocably imposed. In the Xingu River, as in other territories, women have been the main resistance to infrastructure and mining megaprojects, as well as the protagonists in the struggle for autonomy of their bodies, peoples and territories.
The network aims for the horizontal exchange between women of different knowledge that have a common goal: to protect the health and life of Amazonian rivers.
